Move over, Phantasmagoria. Tomestones of Allegory are the new endgame Tomestone you’ll be using to gear up your level 80 Jobs. In this post I’ll go over what you should prioritize buying, and how to efficiently earn your weekly Allegory. You’re limited to earning just 450 per week, and you can only hold up to 2,000 of these Tomestones at a time.

How to Get Tomestones of Allegory

As mentioned, there is a cap on how much of the highest tier Tomestone you can earn per week. This is to prevent players from burning themselves out in the first week of release, doing everything as fast as they can and then putting the game down for 2 or 3 months.

The weekly cap will be removed in a future patch, at which time another type of Tomestone will come out and become the new time-gated currency. The previous Tomestone does still have some value, so if you’re sitting on a boatload of them, check out how to spend your Phantasmagoria.

First let’s talk about how you should be earning your Allegory. There are a few different activities that reward these Tomestones, but you need to be on a level 80 Job for each of them.

Roulettes

This is my preferred method to earn my weekly 450 Tomestones of Allegory. If you play FFXIV every day, or almost every day, it’s by far the most time efficient way to do it. Simply run an Expert Roulette (requires average item level 440) any five days of the week and you’re all set. That’s about 2.5 hours of play time per week, and you’ll also be earning some nice dungeon loot to Desynthesize or turn in for lots of Grand Company Seals.

Alliance

For other Roulettes, you’ll need to make sure you’re on a level 80 Job to earn the Allegory bonus.

Expert40 (+50)
Level 80 Dungeons15
Levelling20
Trials15
Main Scenario50
Alliance Raids50
Normal Raids20
Mentor10
Frontline20 (+20)

Let’s say you don’t play every day and need a quicker three day setup that will get you your Allegory. Do an Expert and Alliance Roulette, and any Eden’s Verse Normal fight. That should still only be about 1-1.5 hours each day for 3 days, and you can earn some tokens from the Eden’s Verse fights to gear up a secondary Job. Don’t forget about your weekly token from E8N (Eden’s Verse: Refulgence), too.

If you haven’t had a chance to play all week, or if you’re so gung ho you just need to get all your Allegory right away, here’s the best way to use Roulettes to get 450 Tomestones of Allegory in one day. It is not for the faint of heart. Run the Level 80 Dungeon, Levelling, Trials, Main Scenario, Alliance Raid, and Normal Raid Roulettes. Then run the Expert Roulette five times. You’ll only get the bonus the first time, but all of the Expert dungeons give you 50 Allegory on their own, so it’s still an easy way to queue for all of them and farm those Tomestones.

Raiding & Extreme Trials

The current tier of the Eden Raid is called Eden’s Verse, and the normal versions of the fights are run regularly by people trying to collect their tokens for i480 gear. You can always jump in a queue for any or all of them and earn 10 Allegory per clear. I usually queue for all of them and then drop whichever ones I’ve already earned loot on. This way I’m working simultaneously on gearing up my main Job and a second one.

If you’re able to clear the Savage versions of Eden’s Verse, that’s 30 Allegory per fight. Just getting your weekly clears will give you 120 which is a significant portion of your Allegory.

If you’ve got the most recent Trial, Cinder Drift (Extreme) on farm, then you can earn 13 Tomestones per clear. It’s not going to get you the full 450 unless you really sink a lot of time into it. However, If you know you’re going to be farming the fight that week for weapon tokens, you can skip one or two Roulettes and still make your weekly cap.

Other Extreme Trials besides the current High-End Duty will give slightly fewer Tomestones of Allegory: 10 for Hades Extreme and 8 for Titania and Innocence. At least they’re worth something if you’re still farming those Trials for their mounts.

Treasure Hunts

I haven’t seen a lot of Treasure Hunting parties in Party Finder, but if you can rustle up a few friends or strangers for a couple hours, you can rack up quite a lot of Tomestones (both Allegory and others). This is a pretty chill way to hang out with friends on a voice call since the content doesn’t require so much focus, and it’s fun to get those Treasure dungeon fakeouts and bonus games. Definitely worth considering if you’re tired of the Expert Roulette grind.

Elite Marks

Shadowbringers Hunt trains are fun and commonly done by trains. Join and keep an eye on your server’s Linkshells for Hunts, and help call out Elite Marks when you see them. You need a few more people than your small Treasure Hunting group, so it’s more popular among random players.

It’s still a pretty relaxed activity, maybe somewhere between an Expert dungeon and Treasure Hunting. This has definitely got more variety though because of all the different Elite Marks. That makes it yet another alternative to help break up the monotony if you’re getting bored of the same weekly routine.

Pixie Beast Tribe Quests

Assuming you don’t need to level any Jobs from 70 to 80, you may want to use the Pixie Quests for a few Tomestones of Allegory instead. These quests are actually worth 5 each for a daily total of 15. It’s not much, but it’s something to do while waiting for a queue.

You’ll still be earning the Pixie currency Fae Fancies that you can spend on VII and VIII Materia, or some cute cosmetics for your player housing. It’s always good to have a stock of these for when you need to meld or remeld you gear each tier.

Raids

How to Spend Tomestones of Allegory

Obviously you’re going to be spending your Allegory on equipment. Specifically, the i490 Crystarium set from Aymark <Tomestone Exchange> in Eulmore [10.3, 11.8]. Which pieces to buy first depends largely on what other equipment you already have, and how much, if any, of the Eden’s Verse Savage gear (Edenchoir set) you’re able to get.

Duty
Without Savage Gear

If you won’t be clearing the Savage fights this tier, then you’re going to want a complete set of Crystarium gear and work on augmenting that to i500. This takes a total of 12 weeks earning the full weekly amount of Allegory. Remember you can always craft or buy i480 HQ Neo-Ishgardian gear to fill in gaps while you wait for Tomestones.

The most important piece for all Jobs is the Weapon, since it has both your weapon damage stat and the highest individual amount of your main attribute stat. However, in addition to the required 1000 Tomestones of Allegory (which you exchange for Mowen’s Tokens through Aymark <Tomestone Exchange>), you also need seven Blades of Golden Antiquity, which drop from E8N once per week. This puts a timegate on buying your Weapon, so you will have time to buy a couple of other items first.

I recommend buying the Body and Legs equipment first, prioritizing them depending on which one is a bigger boost over what you’re already wearing. You should also be able to afford either the Head, Hands, or Feet slot before you need to start saving for your Weapon. After those pieces, you’ll need to save everything you earn in order to get your Weapon as soon as you have your seventh weekly Blade Token.

From there you can fill in the rest of your set with the rest of the left side and the Waist and Accessories. You’ll want to eventually grab two of the Crystarium Rings and wear one augmented (i500) and one un-augmented (i490), since they are unique items.

With Savage Gear

If you’ll be doing as much Savage as you can, your BiS (Best in-Slot) equipment will be a mix of the Crystarium set and the Edenchoir set. You can check the individual Job channels on The Balance Discord. They’ll be under the (job)_resources channel, and depending on those mentors’ preferred format, you may find a link to Ariyala, Etro, or an image such as the one below.

Since Edenchoir Weapons are a higher item level than Crystarium Weapons, they’re pretty much guaranteed to be part of your BiS, but I still recommend working towards the Crystarium Weapon on the way there. The reason is that you’re not guaranteed to get the Edenchoir Weapon until you’ve cleared E8S eight times. This could very easily take a lot longer depending on the speed of your progression.

If you’re working towards full BiS, you’ll be able to afford ‘wasting’ the 1000 Allegory since you won’t need to spend it on other slots anyway, which will be using Edenchoir gear. On top of that, you might get lucky and have your Edenchoir Weapon drop before you need to spend the Allegory on the Crystarium Weapon, in which case you haven’t wasted any Tomestones.

Obviously if you’ve got one of these handy BiS lists from the mentors at The Balance, you’ll only want to spend Allegory on those pieces that fit into your final equipment set goals, and work on filling the other slots with Savage gear bit by bit.

You should still prioritize Crystarium pieces in the order: Body/Legs > Head/Hands/Feet > Waist/Accessories in order to have the biggest impact on your stats. For the biggest impact on your average item level (if for some reason you’re too low to enter specific content), go in reverse order to fill as many cheap slots as you can with high ilvl gear.

Summary

Tomestones of Allegory follow pretty much the same routine you’re used to with endgame Tomestones. Don’t forget about doing Eden’s Verse: Refulgence each week so you can get your hands on that Crystarium Weapon.

There are lots of activities you can choose from to hit your weekly cap of Allegory, so I’m curious which ones do you typically prefer? Let me know in the comments.

Farming FFXIV Gil Guide 2020

Final Fantasy XIV Gil, also refer as gold, is the standard currency in the game. You can make FFXIV Gil by killing monsters, doing missions, completing quests, dungeons, as well as selling your items. Your total Gils are showed on the currency panel. Meanwhile, Gil can be traded with other FFXIV players via mail, Market board, or FC chest. In fact, FFXIV is never a pay-to-win game. Farming is the best way to obtain millions of Gil.

1. Completing Quests

Doing regular quest, duties, and other activities, it will help you level your character, obtain items, get Gil. Players can start the Main Scenario Quest by finding an NPC with the distinct Main Scenario Quest icon above their head, or by looking through the Recommendations list to see what Duties are in the immediate vicinity.

Every Main Scenario Quest has a minimum level requirement. Some Main Scenario Quests require the player to simply speak with another NPC, while others require the player to complete a Dungeon, collect items, slay monsters, and more. Upon completion of the Main Scenario Quest, players have always rewarded Experience Points and Gil, with other items occasionally rewarded as well.

Each starting zone, Gridania, Ul'dah, and Limsa Lominsa, have separate main story quests for levels 1 to 15. After this, all classes share the same quests.

2. Sell Items for Gil

Selling all your unwanted items with other players and get a ton of Gil. The transfer limit is 10 million gil per character, 5 million gil per retainer. There are two ways to make a deal.

  • Face to face delivery. Request a friend request and make the transaction face to face.
  • Market Board. You list an item in the Market Board and set the correct price. Then, other players purchase the item and you get the Gil. You will lose 5% of your Gil for the transaction fee.

3. Level a Gathering Profession

Gathering classes, also known as Disciples of the Land, harvest natural resources throughout Eorzea. For new beginners with a low level, gathering material and sell it is the best way to make Gil in FFXIV 5.2. You can start gathering with Miner, then Botanist, and finally Fisher. It cannot guarantee you become rich but is still a good deal.

Raids

Miners extract minerals from the rock faces of Eorzea. The raw ores and gemstones they acquire are utilized by the blacksmith, armorer, and goldsmith crafting classes. Botanists harvest resources from the plants and trees of Eorzea. They gather raw materials for various crafting classes such as carpenter, weaver, culinarian, and alchemist. Fishers harvest fish and other sea creatures from the waters of Eorzea, utilizing an assortment of fishing tackles to catch fish in various environments.

4. Duty Roulettes

A slow way to make consistent Gil. Doing leveling roulettes will reward you a lot of Gil, as well as level your account. Run daily roulettes, get a cracked cluster, get and sell red grade VI materia. Especially as a PLD, WAR, or DRK.

The Duty Roulette offers a daily reward that gives the players a combination of experience, Grand Company Seals, Cracked Clusters, Mhachi Matter, and Gil, depending on the type of duty, your job depending on what is currently needed, and the level of the job when entering the queue. The type and number of Tomestones available for each roulette often change with new patch content.

5. Flipping items through Market Board

“Buy low, sell high” is always the best way to make money. Look for the ‘weak’ items in Market Board and craft to add more value, then make more profit. A lot of players get a large number of Gil through this method, it may not suit beginners.

Flipping items is one of the most profitable things to do in this game. My only suggestion is to look at what sells the most frequently on your server. If you cared enough you could follow the markets and track prices for a while(aka longer than the market history price. Then try to figure out why the markets are high or figure out what markets should have value. Keeping track of which retainers you are splitting a market with and their selling habits. If you can match a retainer to a player, even better. I am trying to be as vague as possible but give some relevant info. Sorry.

6. Run Dungeons

Dungeons are the best place to obtain mendacity/poetics. You can then exchange for valuable crafting mats/grade III soil. It will help you craft high-end items and make FFXIV Gil.

Dungeons are instanced zones with powerful monsters and treasures, including a lot of Gil. Typically a dungeon will involve navigating through a zone filled with enemies, with intermittent boss enemies. Many dungeons require prerequisites to be fulfilled before they can be entered. In the event one or more members of the party have yet to clear the instance, all party members will receive a bonus upon completion.

7. Gardening

Gardening takes time and money. If you have invested a house and have a lot of leisure time, you can grow a lot of plants. Certain items are incredibly valuable, such as Thavnairian Onion.

When plants have fully grown, players can harvest their crops to obtain produce. Plants may yield high-quality produce depending on how they were cultivated. It is a high profit for making Gil in 5.2.

The Challenge Log contains a list of adventuring objectives across a wide range of categories. Completing any one of these objectives will earn you rewards such as Gil and experience. Additional rewards can be earned for the overall completion of the challenge log. Challenges can be performed on a weekly basis. Completion status is reset on a weekly basis on Tuesday at 1:00 a.m. (PDT).

Players can unlock the Challenge Log by completing the level 15 quest Rising to the Challenge. Players can start the quest by talking to I'tolwann in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (x11,y10). Players must first complete Call of the Sea (Gridania) or Call of the Sea (Limsa Lominsa) or Call of the Sea (Ul'dah). Quick ventures are not suitable for everyone. Someplace may have big fish. How many Gil you earned is just depending on your luck.

In Retainer Ventures, your retainer can perform a Quick venture after reaching level 10. It costs 2 Venture, takes 1 hour and rewards 1 Item. EXP awarded is based on the item acquired. The item acquired is influenced by the retainer's stat, gathering, and item level.

11. Doing Guildleve or Levequests

Guildleves or Levequests are repeatable quests players can perform to earn experience, Gil and items. Unlike regular quests, which can only be performed once per character, levequests can be performed again and again as long as the player has Leve allowances.

Guildleves can be completed individually or as a group. To start a Guildleve, talk to an NPC with <Levemete> under his or her name. After accepting it, Guildleve appears in your Journal. Players can initiate the levequest from their journal.

Players gain 3 Levequest allowances every 12 hours, earth time. Leve allowances stack up to 100.

Players usually have the demand for Glamour Prisms. You can get some levels in your Grand Company and Glamour Prisms. The profit is small, but little and little can accumulate to a big one.

Grand Companies are organizations that players will join at around level 20 by completing the main story quests. There are three grand companies, The Maelstrom from Limsa Lominsa, The Immortal Flames from Ul'dah, and The Order of the Twin Adder from Gridania.

13. Join Map Parties

When you can gather maps yourself, join map parties, and sell the loot for FFXIV Gold. This does not need your much time if you are skilled with this method. The profit is awesome.

You find the spot by looking at the landmarks and finding it on the map. You dig once you're near the spot. Look carefully. Most common rules: Map owner Needs all loot (including all loot inside the canal). Other party members can only Greed it. Maps are done based on location to minimize travel time + cost. For example: do all the maps in Fringes, then Peaks, then Lochs, then Ruby Sea/Kugane areas.

13. Unlock Beast Tribes

Beast Tribe Quests are daily quests that require the players to perform tasks dictated by various Beast Tribes. Players will not only earn experience, Gil, items, Tomestones, and ventures for completing these quests, they will also earn Reputation points. By increasing your reputation, you will gain access to the Beastmen tribe vendor which sells unique mounts, minions, furnishings, and other items.

Meanwhile, you can unlock Beast tribes for dyes, then exchange for hundreds of Gil. The dye is a type of material used to change the color of your armor.

15. Crafting Items with FFXIV Gil Bun

When you want to craft different type of meals, you will need Gil Bun. Culinarian uses it as a ingredient to craft items. This tiny round mushroom has a cap which resembles a coin, and is known for its rich flavor and pungent aroma. It can be gathered by botanists through harvesting. It is harvested from a level 20 node in Nine Ivies in East Shroud(Location: The Black Shroud, East Shroud, Lv. 20 Nine Ivies). Gil Bun is used in crafting the following items:

First off, you enter by talking to Rodney rather than via the duty finder, and you can enter solo without a queue and find other players inside. In many ways, it is like an open zone, just one that allows you to meet people across the whole data center and with a 3-hour timer.

On your first trip inside you'll be treated to a minor quest, talking to various folks around Port Surgate to get introduced to the various facilities. Once that's done and you have your first piece of magicite, you just need to allocate it and you'll be ready to go.

Guildhests are instanced group quests, usually involves a mini-dungeon or boss fight, that players can complete for experience and gil. Guildhests are designed to teach players basic group mechanics that will be needed later on during Dungeons and Trials. Initial Guildhests are quite easy, they become difficult as players level up and delve deeper. After completing at least one Guildleve, you can then talk to a Battlewarden to unlock Guildhests. To locate a FATE, look for FATE indicators that randomly appear on your map. To join a FATE, simply enter the FATE radius (blue circle) on your mini-map and attempt to complete the FATE objectives. There are no limits to the number of players that can participate in a FATE at a time. If the player's level is too high, they will be asked to level sync down. The 8 Disciples of the Hand classes are Carpenter, Blacksmith, Armorer, Goldsmith, Leatherworker, Weaver, Alchemist, and Culinarian.

Players will be free to examine the treasure chest after defeating the abovementioned enemy. All party members will receive rewards such as EXP, gil, Allagan tomestones of philosophy and mythology, minions, aetherial gear, crafting ingredients (including HQ), housing materials, medicine, and elemental shards. There are 4 ways for purchasing FFXIV Gold. However, the first one is the best and most recommended.

  1. Face to face delivery. Choose the server and the amount of Gils at PVPBank, and pay the order. Then login your character, PVPBank will request a friend request.
